Two guides on egg freezing

I haven’t done IVF, but it’s a topic of interest for many people I know.

The available information is usually either 1) selling you something, or 2) scientific papers that are hard for laypeople to interpret. There are a few guides written by research-minded laypeople that I think are helpful:

Catherio’s guide on egg freezing — note this is from 2019 and some things may have changed.

Aella’s calculator to predict live births from number of eggs frozen – 2025. “I used LLMs extensively to help make it, but then double checked all the numbers against studies. Did a lot of reiteration between LLMs and studies, cause studies have pretty different numbers and numbers are often very dependent on factors that they don’t always measure or easily show (like fertility preservation vs infertility).”

I haven’t read Emily Oster’s material on fertility treatment, but her site Parent Data is generally worth a look. Paywalled though.

Note that I haven’t checked these for mistakes; if you think any of this is based on incorrect information, I’d appreciate you letting me know!
